Strategy

We are currently one the leading providers of pension administration and fiduciary management services in the Netherlands. Even though our client base is currently still primarily Dutch, we are also one of the largest providers in Europe.  We have achieved that position by providing innovative, cost-effective solutions to our clients that enable them to achieve their strategic goals.  In order to continue to be able to offer these services to our clients, we are convinced that continued growth is critical in the face of several long-term trends:

Internationalisation

Pensions in Europe will become less national and more European.  We need to have the knowledge, expertise, and networks to offer our clients innovative solutions to benefit from this trend.

Consolidation

The pensions and financial services industry will continue to consolidate. In order to continue to offer the benefits of economies of scale and purchasing power, MN will need to continue to grow.

Scarcity of Talent

Our ability to attract and retain talented staff is critical to our ability to offer innovative, effective solutions to our clients.  Growth, and especially international growth, helps create the dynamic, entrepreneurial work environment that attracts talent.  International growth also enables us to access new pools of talent with different backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives.

Given these trends and our already leading position in the Netherlands, our growth strategy is therefore focused on reinforcing our leading European position by broadening our client base across Europe.  This is especially relevant to fiduciary management, which has evolved to meet the challenges faced by pension schemes in a sophisticated pensions environment.  There are several European countries where pension schemes operate in such a sophisticated environment.  The opening of our office in the UK in late 2008 is the first step in executing this strategy.

While growth is therefore an important strategic goal, we also believe that it should never jeopardise the quality of our services to our clients.  We therefore prefer organic, managed growth with a focus on those relationships that add long-term value to both the prospective client and MN.
